National Martial Arts Day

On Saturday, October 18, 2003, thousands of martial arts schools across the country will be celebrating National Martial Arts day. Participating schools will be hosting open houses, demonstrations, exhibitions, free classes and charitable fundraisers.

The National Association of Professional Martial Artists (NAPMA), Martial Arts Professional magazine, and The Project Action Foundation are organizing national Martial Arts Day (NMAD). Governors across the United States of America are issuing proclamations giving NMAD official recognition and mayors and other public officials are attending events and festivities in their communities.

The purpose of NMAD is to recognize the millions of Americans who currently participate in the martial arts and to promote the benefits of martial arts training. (Note: Martial arts has two Olympic sports, Tae Kwon Do and Judo.) The goal of NMAD is to increase the number of people participating in the martial arts.

Hundreds of martial arts schools will also be participating in Project Action’s nationwide World Record Kick-A-Thon. They will be attempting to break the World Record of 4.7 million kicks thrown in one hour while raising money to help disadvantaged children in their own community.

MVP Tae Kwon Do Center will be hosting National Martial Arts Day Events which will include:
Self Protection Workshops for children and adults
FREE Introductory Fitness Kickboxing Class
FREE Introductory Tai Chi Class
Project Action Kick-A-Thon
